New Belgian record 1000m speed skating (long track)

Wim De Deyne has broken the Belgian record during the Summer Classics speed skating in the Olympic Oval at Calgary on 1000m. He skated better than the half belgians Bart Veldkamp and Andre Vreugdenhil ever did. The old record of January 2002 stood on 1.12.79. Wim De Deyne skated 0”35 faster. The current Belgian record has been improved up to 1.12.44. It is remarkable that the short track specialist had only need for 3 weeks training on the long track to break the record. He is now Belgian record holder on both 1000m Short Track and long track.
